Computers and God’s Timing
October 18th, 2005 by Nick VerwymerenAs many of you know I’ve been waiting for the right timing to buy a new computer. I am curently using the laptop that RTO (Reef to Outback) has given to me, but it is quite outdated. I was really praying about what would be best for me to buy, a desktop or laptop. A desktop has the advantage of being a better computer for the same price of a laptop, but a laptop is obviously much more protable. After finding a computer that was in between the two I knew that an iMac would fit the bill.
So last week I ordered my new iMac from Apple after waiting for nearly five months to buy a new computer. Part of the reason I waited so long is that I wanted to get the upgraded version (which gets released every six months or so). It came to the point where I just had to decide to order the computer even though there had been no upgrades.
The day after I ordered the computer Apple released on their web site the brand new iMacs, pretty much a completely different computer (in a good way) than the one I ordered. I phoned Apple right away and sure enough they told me I was getting the upgraded computer, and not only that, but it would be $150 cheaper.
So I just want to say thanks to everyone who has supported me. I really am grateful and having this tool will definately imporve productivity. It’s amazing to see how God has everything worked out in His timing, even if it’s something nerdy like buying a new computer.

“You say grace before meals…But I say grace before the concert and the opera, and grace before the play and pantomime, and grace before I open a book, and grace before sketching, painting, and swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing, and grace before I dip the pen in ink.” -C.K. Chesterton
I’m glad that you recognize God’s provision in your life. Reading about your work is interesting for me. I’m excited for you, despite the frustration with the visa and stuff. I hope that God doesn’t live up to your expectations. I’m praying that God will shatter them and do things that you never even imagined were in the realm of possibility.
